The double slit
Fire something at a barrier with two slits in it and you get an interference pattern —
which is what waves do. Do it with electrons , one at a time, minutes apart, and the
pattern still builds up. A single electron has nothing to interfere with except itself. So
each one goes through both slits.
Put a detector at the slits to see which one it actually took, and the interference
collapses into two plain bands. Watched, it picks a side. Unwatched, it takes both. Feynman
called it “the only mystery” — he said everything else follows from it.
Here the two slits are a rib pair . One neuron enters each mouth, and both
ribs of a pair hang on the same vertebra — so the place they become one
again is not invented for the effect. It is the joint they were always going to arrive at.
And this shows you both paths at once, which the real experiment can never
do — the moment you can see which slit, the effect is gone. What is on this screen is
the thing you are not allowed to look at.
